Vision: to Provide a supportive retirement community for people 55+ who are parenting or raising children. This includes low income energy efficient housing, services to support aging in place and services for the children.
Need: the population of seniors who have responsibility for children is growing. The needs of this population are unique. They need to provide stability, support and resources for children at a time of life when some of the same needs exist in their own lives. Income is stressed due to the financial load of raising children at a time when the option of working multiple jobs to make ends meet is not there and life's work is ending. Since the process of gaining custody of the children can be expensive, seniors may have decreased savings to a level which leaves few options. As the physical and financial resources decrease the senior who is parenting needs assistance. However this is still the most stable environment for the child. Balancing these needs with minimal support is financially possible.
